1885, The Beginning of the Legend

At the end of 1882, Albin Schneider also gained further experience and knowledge as a technician in a cabinet manufacturing factory in Vienna, Austria. Afterwards, in 1883, at the age of 23, Albin Schneider returned to the piano industry and was employed in Vienna as a builder of piano instruments. When the above quotation appeared in the Neue Musikalische Presse (Vienna) press in 1883, Bösendorfer had already become the quintessence of Viennese sound style. With his pianos, Bösendorfer had already conquered the concert podiums and concert halls all over the Habsburg Monarchy. Nowadays he became construction manager in the “Bösendorfer” piano factory.A brand that has spread through the centuries.

Albin Schneider was born on July 30, 1860 into a poor family in Linz, Austria. At the age of 10, he began working as an apprentice in a machine shop and learned the trades of mechanic, carpenter and wood turner. After 5 years of apprenticeship, he worked in a cabinet-making workshop. Between the ages of 16 and 20, he learned piano making with the well-known piano manufacturer Bösendorfer, near Vienna.
In early 1885, Albin Schneider began making pianos in his own workshop and thus the great Schneider piano was born. Company philosophy; fine sound quality with rock-solid, durable construction.
Albin Schneider made the first piano in Linz in 1885 and after delivering three grand pianos to the royal court of Linz, he was named as an official purveyor to the court in 1886.After moving to larger workshops twice, a small factory was established in 1887. By now the number of workers had increased to 60. The fame of the Schneider brand had spread beyond regional borders and new business contacts were established due to the growing demand. At that time the main markets were Germany, Russia, Sweden, England, Spain and Portugal.
